Montessori Musicians Jam at Carnival!
/Thank you to all who supported our students in the 2023 Children's Parade! It was a great team effort to get our kids back on the road after a 5-year-long hiatus. And thanks to WTJX Virgin Islands Public Broadcasting System for capturing our performance. Here’s the video:
The Montessori Percussion Ensemble played popular tunes from the Caribbean and Latin America as they were led down Main Street. The float, designed to honor the life of Shournagh McWeeney, was decorated with images of our former director and beloved member of the VIMSIA community, and art by students of all ages. The ensemble was created in January of this year. These 6th and 8th grade musicians played a variety of Orff percussion instruments including student-sized glockenspiels, xylophones, and metallophones. Amazing job to: Rowan, Rhea, Chloe K, Tendaji, Akella, Chloe R, Jordan from the 6th grade, and Caleb, Talvin, Asar, Abella, K'dar from the 8th grade.
Thank you again to Tutu Mall for a donation that made the float, decorations, and t-shirts possible, to ASAP Towing for subsidizing our truck to pull the float and Island Edge Culinary for providing lunches to our parade participants.
