In a meaningful and uplifting ceremony at our school last night, 27 PGIA Students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) and the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). These exceptional young people have committed to following the pillars and high standards of this organization and representing their community in the best way possible. 21 students were inducted into the NHS, and 6 into NJHS.

“I am so proud of these students and the enthusiasm they bring to this new organization on campus,” says Diana Price, Advisor for the NHS.

“Although the National Honor Society is 103 years old, we are thrilled to be bringing a chapter to VIMSIA for the first time! The new members will be planning, organizing, and executing two service projects a year that will benefit the VIMSIA community.”

In order to join the National Junior Honor Society or the National Honor Society students must show exemplary qualifications in four areas: scholarship, leadership, service, and character (in addition to citizenship for NJHS). Students were invited to apply based on their academic background and had to illustrate that they had extensive leadership and service experiences, and demonstrated a strong character in and out of the classroom to be selected.

Inducted members participate in community service, are PGIA and VIMSIA ambassadors, and must continue to meet the rigorous qualification requirements throughout their tenure in the PGIA.  Colleges and Universities appreciate students who have been National Honor Society members, knowing they have demonstrated the four pillars mentioned above consistently over time.

Thanks to Diana Price and Jacqui Walley, Advisor for the NJHS for organizing such a great event!
